Dr. Maddy Orr is researcher, educator, and advocate working at the intersection of sport and climate change.

She is based in Toronto.

On 2nd November 2022, UNEP and Loughborough University launched the Sports for Nature Report: Setting a Baseline. The launch was held at Lords Cricket Ground and was live-streamed to a global audience.

I was fortunate to lead the authorship team on the report, alongside rockstar graduate student Jack Pippard and my colleagues at The Sport Ecology Group: Ugo Arbieu, Jonathan Casper, Tim Kellison, Jordan Howell, Walker Ross, Jessica Murfree, Brian McCullough, and Sylvia Trendafilova.

The report can be accessed here: https://www.unep.org/resources/publication/sports-nature-setting-baseline-handbook

I have had the extraordinary privilege of traveling for work to participate in national and international meetings on climate change and sport, and to support large sporting events such as the NCAA Women’s Final Four 2019, X-Games Minneapolis, the 2020 Super Bowl, and the 2016 Rio Olympics. Often, I bring students along for the ride as volunteers!
